Where are OSL classes being offered or held
A collab course is offered at the MFA Design & Technology program in AMT in Parsons School of Design, The New School.
Who can join classes?
Current Parsons undergraduates or graduate students across from all schools (Fashion, Product Design, Design studies, Fine Arts, TransD, Design & Technology, Architecture etc). Clients are selected through an interview process. Occupational or Physical therapists are also welcome to join to volunteer their time as well as get field experience to help shape and impact the classroom.
Who are clients and what are their roles in the class?
Clients come from an array of backgrounds and have diverse abilities. We look for clients who are positive, patient, and able to mentor students on inclusive practice by sharing their day-to-day lifestyles on living with a disability.Although clients receive a wearable solution at the end of the class, the main role is the help shape the student experiences to learn more about inclusion, lack of accessibility, and disability. They have the chance to impact future students who will be the next designers, technologists, or creative thinkers in their field.
Clients will be asked to dedicate to 10 classes throughout the 15 -week semester. Each class involvement is 1.5-3 hrs with sometime to meet outside the class as well.
To be considered a client for Spring (Sept- Dec)/ Fall(Feb-May) classes, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We want to acknowledge the support and generosity of the New School, Parsons School of Design (in particular the MFA Design & Technology program and the BFA School of Fashion) and New York University’s Occupational and Physical Therapy graduates, faculty, and alumni who have dedicated their time to volunteer.
